Summary

We are looking for a friendly, passionate apprentice to support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and fostering a positive learning environment. Working closely with pupils in a primary school setting, while gaining practical experience and training to develop your skills and achieve a recognised qualification.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an apprentice Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the development and learning of the children. This exciting and rewarding role allows the successful candidate the opportunity to gain experience and skills across key functions, including:

  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and resources.
  • Support pupils with learning activities, both individually and in groups.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide extra support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Supervise pupils during breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as marking, record-keeping, and organising supplies.
  • Encourage and support pupil engagement, confidence, and progress.     
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt resources and activities to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Observe and report pupil progress to teachers and senior staff.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan

Priory Apprenticeships are leading provider of apprenticeships designed specifically for education. During your apprenticeship, you will work closely with Priory Apprenticeships’ Occupational Expert to gains the skills, knowledge and behaviour you need to be a successful and qualified Teaching Assistant. The level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship is a 21 month programme delivered through practical, on-the-job training, workshops and mentoring. Upon completion of the course you will have achieved Level 3 Teaching Assistant and functional skills if required.

  • English (grade 4 or C and above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or C and above)
