This is a fantastic opportunity to gain knowledge, skills & experience in quantity surveying. We specialise in internal fit out in various commercial sectors including student accommodation & build to rend apartments along with works for IHP and NHS in various new build high spec hospital wards.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

General duties including:  

  • Assisting senior managers with the budgeting of construction projects 
  • Control of costs during a construction project 
  • Selection and management of specialist contractors 
  • To contribute to the mitigation of disputes using accurate records 
  • Recording, control and reporting of income and expenditure on a construction project 
  • Valuation of progress on construction projects 
  • To assist senior managers with the legal and contractual issues on a construction project

Construction quantity surveying technician (level 4)

Course contents
  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Your training plan

Training will be at North Lindsey College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer.  

Day release.   

You will undertake the Construction Quantity Surveying Technician standard.

You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or Maths if needed.  

You will undertake both on and off-the-job training by a team of industry-qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge and experience that will help you become a Quantity Surveyor of the future!

GCSE in:

  • English, Maths and Science (grade 5/B)

You must be able to travel to and from work and college. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
