Summary

JC Payne are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist with all functions performed within the company's accounts department. This is an opportunity for a candidate to learn and grow their knowledge of finance and accounting within a large organisation.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Sales invoicing
  • Checking purchase invoices have been appropriately approved in line with the companies' policies
  • Posting purchase invoices to the accounting system
  • Credit control via email and telephone
  • Allocating sales receipts onto sales ledger
  • Allocating payments onto purchase ledger
  • General office duties, including, without limitation, greeting customers, answering incoming telephone calls, and filing of sales and purchase invoices
  • Work with other company employees to achieve company goals, including with respect to reduction in production costs ensuring maximum profitability for the company
  • Maintain a professional manner with customers to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, reporting current matters to your supervisor and the board of directors as required
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
  • Communicate professionally with customers of the company
  • Undertake all other tasks required by your supervisor
  • In keeping with accepted principles of good working practice, you may be required to undertake additional or alternative duties

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
  • Institute of Certified Bookkeepers Certificate in Bookkeeping
  • Institute of Accountants and Bookkeepers Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and Business

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths & English (grade 4/C or equivalent)
