Summary

This is an exciting entry level position for a candidate who wants to work within the commercial sector of construction. Work and train with a successful company who work on a range of projects in all sectors including Education, Commercial, Residential and Healthcare.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  •  Assisting the commercial team with day-to-day duties.
  • Attending along side contract managers to learn the way sites work and form relationships with sub-contractors.
  • Taking off drawings, ordering materials, assessing sub-contractor wages. (After learning)

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Course contents
  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

  • Extensive learning on drywall/SFS systems
  • Daily assistance on learning how all functions of the business works from entering data into excel to processing payments for Sub-contractors

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English and Maths (grade C/4)

Desirable qualifications

A Level in:

  • Any (grade 112 UCAS Points (BBC))

BTEC in:

  • Any (grade 112 UCAS Points (DMM))
