Summary
You will help contribute to financial management that supports delivery of LPT’s key purpose and vision, ensuring adherence to financial routines, accuracy and compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. You will also support the finance team with administrative tasks, such as managing data and preparing documents accurately.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
- Timely & accurate processing of purchase invoices in Xero accounting software
- Maintenance of financial CRM records
- Support sound & effective financial controls
- Assist with compiling Gift Aid claims
- Assist with preparation of annual audit files
- Process petty cash transactions
- Assist with accurate recording of donations and income including producing reports and reconciliation
- Responsible for cash handling including accurate counting and recording of bank deposits
- Matching purchase invoices to purchase orders, obtaining necessary approvals and ensuring a full audit trail
- Export and analysis of data for use in KPI reports

Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
You will receive training one day per week which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan.
Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.
More training information
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Accounts/Finance Assistant Level 2 qualification.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

About this company
For the last 20 years, we have provided real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions. We also fund research projects focused on finding more effective treatments for childhood cancers. Over the past 5 years, our staff numbers have doubled due to continued growth, and the majority of staff have worked at the charity for a significant length of time.
