Fine Finish Furniture are one of the leading manufacturers of quality bespoke kitchens, bedrooms and home offices, creating bespoke furniture for residences. We are seeking an Apprentice Sprayer Finisher to join our finishing team. Finish bespoke furniture using different lacquers and specialist finishes to create high-end bespoke furniture.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
- Learn how to select appropriate tools and materials for furniture finishing
- Learn how to prepare furniture ready for finishing
- Learn how to set up and operate furniture finishing machinery
- Learn how to prepare, mix, colour match and applying stains and oil to a very high standard.
- Learn how to apply decorative effects and specialist finishes on furniture such as French polishing
- Conduct service and repair work on furniture
- Manage and organise stock effectively
- Collaborate within a team environment
- Organisational skills for managing tasks and inventory
- Work independently, using initiative to solve challenges
- Undertake housekeeping duties
- Follow Health and Safety guidelines

- Agree scope of work and timescales with customers and plan activity.
- Prepare work area and maintain before, during and after tasks.
- Store materials, tools, and equipment.
- Apply health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance requirements and monitoring procedures.
- Select and check tools, equipment and machinery.
- Set up, operate and monitor machinery, hand and power tools and equipment use to prepare furniture for finishing.
- Follow environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, procedures and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
- Inspect, sand, strip and repair surfaces for finishing and report issues.
- Apply colour matching and mixing techniques including checking compatibility and recording materials and ratios.
- Identify, select and prepare materials, tools and equipment to finish furniture by hand.
- Apply and adjust hand finishing techniques to create decorative effects or specialist finishes to furniture.
- Apply techniques to revive and protect existing finish.
- Record information - paper based or electronic.
- Identify and resolve common faults and issues in furniture finishing.
- Escalate issues or concerns.
- Apply preventative maintenance techniques to machinery, tools and equipment. For example checking, cleaning and lubricating.
- Apply basic continuous improvement techniques for example, 5 Why's, 5S, KAIZEN.

Your training plan
- During your Standard Level 2 Furniture Finishing apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at WEBS Training in Nottingham on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer
- You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally
- Training will be provided in all areas of Furniture Finishing to ensure you can finish bespoke furniture using both traditional and modern techniques to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose products
More training information
- If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme
