Summary

At TPS our Parts Sales Executive apprentices have a diverse role. This includes sales (both on the phone and in person); stock control; health and safety logistics; order processing and delivering a high level of customer service using specialist product knowledge.

What you’ll do at work

TPS are looking for the next generation of Parts Sales Executives to join their sites across the UK through the Volkswagen Group Apprenticeship Programme. If you have a passion for customer service, or a desire to build a career within sales, but don’t know where to start, our apprentice positions could be for you!

Working alongside a team of experienced sales professionals, you will gain an understanding of what it takes to be successful in parts sales, expert product knowledge and how to provide excellent customer service.

You will also develop life skills such as teamwork, leadership and communication while you work both behind the scenes and at the front desk.

The role requires you to be professional and approachable so that you can accurately assess customer requirements, advise them on parts required and process orders efficiently in a busy environment.

As a Parts Sales Executive, some of your key objectives will include:

  • Inbound/outbound call handling
  • Taking cash and credit card transactions

  • Communicate with customers to meet their requirements and encourage customer loyalty and repeat business.
  • Serve customers in line with brand standards, legislation, business procedures and the values of the business.
  • Provide a retail service that balances the customers’ needs with additional linked products and services.
  • Use face to face or online sales techniques such as product and price comparisons to support or influence the customer in their purchasing decisions.
  • Promote seasonal or local offers through in-store or online promotions.
  • Identify situations that may damage business reputation in line with company policy and escalate as required.
  • Maintain good merchandising to meet the needs of the business whilst ensuring safety.
  • Maintain stock levels and storage conditions such as correct temperature, lighting, ventilation, packaging to meet customer demand and minimise stock loss.
  • Use technology and applications to support sales and service ensuring that maintenance issues are reported.
  • Support team and colleague development through buddying and/or coaching.
  • Comply with regulations and legislation relevant to their role and business.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities which focus on improving sustainability within the business.
  • Handle complaints within remit or escalate as appropriate.
  • Support sales across a range of promotional events throughout the calendar year.

Your training plan

Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face-to-face block release weeks at our state-of-the-art training centres.

Our expert trainers will guide you through the training programme using a combination of e-learning, classroom learning and practical application.

In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your continued learning as you apply the skills and knowledge you have gained through the remote sessions and at the National Learning Centre.

As part of a fully rounded and comprehensive training programme, you will also be invited to a week’s personal development with our delivery partners Outward Bounds (T’s&C’s apply) to enrich your teamwork, communication, resilience and problem solving skills.
