Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Processing intercompany purchase ledger invoices and resolving queries arising from these
  • Assist with the processing and reconciliation of employee expenses including credit cards, personal expenses and mileage records
  • Support the purchase ledger assistant in the processing of bank transactions
  • Liaising and working closely with the Financial Accountant and Accounts Payable Assistant
  • Assist with year-end procedures as required
  • Assist with audit requests as required
  • Using telephone, email and other business and communication systems
  • You will be supported to attain a professional qualification, attending college on assigned days

  • Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner.  Adapt communications to suit different  situations, individuals or teams.
  • Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately. Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities.
  • Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others.  Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results.
  • Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles  to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Your training plan

Accountancy or Taxation Professional Level 7. 

In a trainee role with STIHL you will receive the encouragement and support of the team to achieve your professional qualification and gain the necessary business skills required to start your career in Finance.

You will be required to travel to work in Camberley and college in Reading on assigned dates and complete all course work.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 5 and above)
  • Maths (grade 5 and above)

Other in:

  • Accountancy (grade Pass)
