Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Fabweld Steel Products are market leaders in the design and manufacture of access covers and other fabricated steel products for the construction industry, including non-structural and structural applications. With the state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities from laser-cutting to bar-coding technology they would like to offer an opportunity to become an apprentice fabricator/welder (full training will be provided):
- Trained to read and interpret technical drawings and data
- Welding and manufacturing steel products
- Use a variety of welding techniques
- Checking products meet the required standard
- Maintain equipment
- Work towards achieving efficiency and targets
- Observe company H&S procedures

- Following enrolment, learners engage in a blended programme of training and support that will include attendance at group training sessions on a day release basis, work-based learning, email and face-to-face support from their trainer/assessor, as well as a programme of training devised by the employer
- The length of the programme is 12 months

After this apprenticeship
- It is hoped that the successful applicant will continue to work on a permanent basis with Fabweld following completion of the apprenticeship and progress onto higher qualifications (this will be dependent upon performance throughout the duration of the apprenticeship programme)
