Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

This position requires you to work towards the following competency levels:-

  • Supervision of specialist contractors
  • The control of health and safety standards on construction projects
  • Recording, control and reporting of progress on a construction project
  • The minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects
  • Control of quality of works on a construction project
  • Assisting commercial staff with the monitoring of costs on a construction project

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

  • CertHE Site Management
  • Day release delivery with one day a week on ARU's Chelmsford campus

You will receive on the job training combined with day release to university working towards the achievement of a Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship – Level 4.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English and Maths and four other subjects (grade B/6)

Desirable qualifications

A Level in:

  • Any (grade 112 UCAS Points (BBC))

BTEC in:

  • Any (grade 112 UCAS Points (DMM))

After this apprenticeship
