Summary

The Financial Lines Data Technician Apprentice will support the Financial Lines UW team for various tasks such as Reporting, Agora entry management, MFO back up and support & sanctions screening.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Support Underwriters in Agora entries and data input
  • Agora project on accuracy of data and additional information fields
  • Assist and support in processing of risks and endorsements
  • Support and work with MFO & TCS on Policy/Endorsement processing
  • Provide Reporting on renewals and new business

  • Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
  • Collect, format and save datasets.
  • Summarise and explain gathered data.
  • Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
  • Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
  • Audit data results.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
  • Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
  • Review own development needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
  • Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate as part of a multi-functional team.
  • Prioritise within the context of a project.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Data Technician, with training in how to:

  • Identify the right data sources for your business to inform decision making
  • Collect, compile and cleanse data accurately and securely
  • Identify, anaylse and interpret data, trends and patterns
  • Produce dashboards and reports to aid visualization and comparison
  • Summarise and present the results of data analysis, making recommendations for business improvement
  • Store and archive data in line with data protection legislation

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • 5 GCSE's including English and Maths (grade Grade C and above)

Other requirements

Holidays: 28 Days + bank holidays + half day before every bank holiday and half day every Friday in August Pension/Benefits: The company operates a non-contributory stakeholder pension scheme. The employee will be automatically enrolled in the scheme. The company will contribute 10% of the Employee’s basic salary.
