Apprentices will be paid the Apprentice NMW of £7.55 during their initial off -the-job training. Once on site, Apprentices will be paid inline with the National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry (NAECI)

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
The role of a pipefitter is integral to every major Engineering Construction project and involves working with various pipe materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics and composites in a huge range of sizes and thicknesses.
Where you’ll work
The initial off -the-job training will be based in Tipton, West Midlands and accommodation and travel contributions will be provided during this time. Once the off -the-job training is completed, Apprentices will be placed on one of our sites, which are based all over the UK and will receive both accommodation and travel contributions if applicable
Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Engineering construction pipefitter (level 3)
Equal to A level
Course contents
- Comply with appropriate health and safety, risk and quality requirements,
- Correctly select and safely use tools and equipment for the fabrication, assembly, installation and decommissioning of pipework components and systems,
- Plan, organise and undertake the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and decommissioning of pipework components and systems,
- Read, interpret and apply engineering drawing information,
- Shape pipework components using hand and power tools to cut, drill, shape and finish components to the required tolerance, specification and standard,
- Assemble and install pipework using the appropriate methods, techniques and equipment in accordance with the specification including welded, threaded, bolted and clamped jointing solutions,
- Ensure the integrity of joints in accordance with specifications, in line with specified quality procedures and to precise tolerances,
- Undertake the testing and inspection of the fabricated and/or installed pipework using the appropriate techniques,
- Work with others and contribute to effective working relationships within an Engineering Construction environment,
- Apply techniques for the temporary or permanent removal of an engineering construction piping related system or component,
- Communicate by keeping others informed about work plans or activities which may affect them and seek assistance from others without causing undue disruption to normal work activities.
Your training plan
- Engineering Construction Pipefitter Level 3
- Approximately 6 months of off-the-job training will be undertaken at our training centre in Tipton, West Midlands
- Once completed, you will then be placed on one of sites, which are based all over the UK, to continue your learning and applying the skills and knowledge learnt

After this apprenticeship
Successful completion of the 3 year apprenticeship programme will provide a globally recognised Level 3 Diploma in Installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems (RQF).
