Summary

Stagecoach Engineering apprenticeships programs span four years and are structured to provide comprehensive learning and skill development. The first three years involve practical learning at our bus depots, working alongside skilled technicians and using the latest diagnostic technology.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Year 1:

  • A full overview of all vehicle systems, including Health and Safety, tools & equipment, inspections, wheels & tyres, braking principles, steering & suspension, engines, electrical principles, air & fuel, cooling & lubrication, and transmission & drivelines

Year 2:

  • A deeper, more focused learning of electrical systems, body electrics, transmission and drivelines, and being able to remove & replace components

Year 3:

  • Advanced body & electrical diagnostics, engine diagnostics, chassis diagnostics, transmission diagnostics, vehicle & component inspections, diagnosing & repairing components

  • At work and at college based in either Wolverhampton or Glasgow
  • Block release basis - up to 9 times per year (Monday - Friday) 
  • All travel and accommodation paid for 

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 / C or above)
  • Maths (grade 4 / C or above)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Science (any) (grade 4 / C or above)
