Work

What you’ll do at work

The Worcester Site has entered into a key period of development, and we are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our developing team. This role will support the Financial Controller in the day to day processes on site.

Description:

The Finance Apprentice is a people focused collaborator who is supportive of an inclusive environment, and plays a crucial role in delivering accurate and on-time financial reports. Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Finance Assistant will increase efficiency by taking responsibility for day to day tasks and reporting. This role is ideal for someone starting their finance career and looking to expand their skills and gain an official qualification, as study support is available.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Receipting of invoices
  • Statement supplier reconciliations
  • Main point of contact and support for various suppliers
  • Updating the internal Kraft Heinz systems and databases
  • Journal posting
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with forecasting, monthly management accounts and annual budgetary review process
  • Responsible for ordering of administration stationary and materials
  • Being the main point of contact for financial matters when the Financial Controller is unavailable
  • Assist with quarterly control processes and write offs

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

  • You will receive training one day per week which is face-to-face, as per your assigned training plan. Your weekly training sessions will be held at WGTA, McKenzie Way, Worcester. WR4 9GN. 

More training information

  • Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.
  • You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Accounts/ finance Apprenticeship qualification.
  • There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C or 4 above)
  • Maths (grade C or 4 above)

Other requirements

The site has access restrictions due to the age of the building. The main offices are two fights of stairs up with no lift access unfortunately. As we operating in a working factory it is important this is noted (interesting smells and loud noises from time to time). There will also be a requirement to go out onto the factory floor every now and then to check in with the team or support with stock counts.
