An excellent opportunity for a candidate to join our well-established accounts team to assist in day-to-day tasks and to provide a solid foundation in finance administration. This position is particularly well suited to an individual who is looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Your duties will include:

  • To support with the use and operation of the firms accounting/case management system
  • Ensure banking is completed on a daily basis
  • Support with the posting of bills and authorising/preparing of invoices
  • Liaise directly with clients when receiving payments
  • Manage petty cash procedures
  • Mange your own work allocation and productivity

Where you’ll work

You will work at Royal House, 60 Bruton Way, Gloucester GL1 1EP. You must be able to travel to the business as this role is based within the company.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. College delivery is half a day per week, or a blended approach, with half a day in college one week and half a day online the following week.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
