Summary

JOIN A WINNING TEAM. This apprenticeship will develop the skillset required to become a fully qualified Assembly Fitter including sub assemblies and main assemblies in line with defined process sheets and technical assembly drawings to meet the production plan of the Company ensuring quality standards are maintained.

Wage
£19,103.76 a year

Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 4.00pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch. Friday, 7.30am to 3.00pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

The assembly department's responsibility is to assemble all parts of the completed truck mounted sweeper.

As part of the apprenticeship, you will be:

  • Taught how to assemble the product
  • Learn to read engineering drawings
  • Understand engineering regulations
  • Required to meet or exceed all college targets set for you
  • Maintain the high quality of a worldwide renowned product
  • Achieve targets set by supervisors and managers
  • Attend all training courses required by the company

Course contents
  • Reading, interpreting and understanding the component or assembly specification, diagrams, drawings and work instructions.
  • Planning component or assembly task – materials, tools and equipment.
  • Preparing work area for component or assembly task; sourcing required resources, tools and equipment.
  • Carry out relevant planning and preparation activities before commencing work activity and know how to source required resources and interpret detailed drawings, specifications and job instructions.
  • Checking tools during and after task completion; identifying and reporting defects.
  • Measuring and testing, checking or inspecting component or assembly for example; use of micrometers, verniers, multimeters, voltmeter.
  • Problem solving; analysing the issue and fixing the issue where appropriate.
  • Applying improvement techniques; recommending or implementing solutions where appropriate.
  • Communicating with colleagues or customers (internal or external).
  • Completing component or assembly documentation for example job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation.
  • Reporting work outcomes or issues.
  • Restoring the work area on completion of the activity; returning any resources and consumables to the appropriate location and house-keeping.
  • Disposing of waste in accordance with waste streams; re-cycling, re-using where appropriate.
  • Operating within limits of responsibility.
  • Operating in line with quality, health and safety and environmental policy and procedures; identifying risks and hazards and identifying control measures where applicable.

  • BTEC Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) - Awarding organization Pearsons; GLH 720
  • Engineering Fitting Standard Level 3
  • In-house training, including manual handling.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade Grade C/4 or above)
  • Mathematics (grade Grade C/4 or above)

Other requirements

You will be required to attend College for either 1 or 2 days per week. You will enhance your development and practice your skills learnt in a supportive environment in the company with experienced mentors to encourage you.
