Summary

Hunts Food Group are looking for a motivated and energetic Apprentice Chef to join our kitchen team at The Farmyard Kitchen, Sherborne. You will take on a full-time role in the kitchen under the supervision of our chefs alongside your training, showing you exactly what it takes to become a vital team member in any kitchen.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Preparation and cooking of food for breakfast and lunch
  • Taking consideration for customers special dietary requirements, including religious diets, allergens and food intolerance diets
  • Monitor the temperature, quality and portion size of all food served from the kitchen areas
  • Ensure that all food leaving the kitchen is prepared and served to the pre-agreed consistent high standards
  • Ensure the effective control of refrigeration and dry store goods to ensure food safety and reduce waste
  • Comply with local health and safety requirements
  • Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time

Training for this apprenticeship will be across 12 masterclasses through Yeovil College. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the hospitality Team Member Food Production apprenticeship standard.

  • Maths (grade Grade 9 – 4 / A* - C)

Other requirements

Hunt’s will be supportive of any resits required to achieve English and Maths qualifications. You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. In some cases, you may be required to have a telephone conversation with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on.
