Summary

EAS manufacture and supply all types of Gaskets; Seals and Rubber mouldings. A small but fast-growing company, working from renovated farm buildings on the Essex Suffolk Border just outside Sudbury. They are currently looking for an apprentice Production Operative to join their team.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

You will be learning:

  • Operation of machinery to produce all types of Gaskets and other products in a variety of materials. We have various CNC machinery including waterjets; knife machines; milling and routing machines and automatic presses.
  • Warehouse responsibilities including forklift operation (dependant on age of candidate) and material handling. Sorting, packing and despatching goods to customers’requirements, including all relevant paperwork.
  • Inspection of parts, making sure the parts are to the customers drawing and within tolerances.
  • Producing CAD drawings and nesting programmes for production.
  • Full training will be given in all areas of the business. Working with a small team of operatives with regular contact with company Managers & directors.

Additional Important Info:

We operate out of a number of converted farm buildings and there will be times when the successful applicant will be outside. However, full uniform, including coat and safety shoes will be provided. It can be quite a physical role. We are in the middle of nowhere, so there are no shops or food outlets for about 3 miles, there is a local bus that runs hourly.

  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Other requirements

Preferably the candidate will be keen to undertake their driving test if they do not have a license already as we a remote. Although initially we can be accommodating, we have most employee’s driving through Sudbury or surrounding areas so can pick up and drop off if practically possible.

Opportunity to lead to a full time job within a fast growing company. This will lead to other opportunities both on the manufacturing side with CAD Drawings and machine programming and maintenance etc. as well as potential within administration or Sales. There will be plenty of avenues moving forward that we can guide candidate down, depending on what part of the business the chosen candidate takes interest in.
