Summary
As a Tooling Engineer Apprentice, you will develop hands-on skills and technical knowledge in tooling maintenance, modification, and repair. Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and modification of press tools, ensuring optimal performance and longevity
- Support tooling engineers in setting up and troubleshooting tooling within the press shop
- Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Operate manual and CNC machining equipment to manufacture and modify tooling components
- Carry out routine inspections to identify tool wear or defects and assist in corrective actions
- Work with press shop operators to ensure tooling issues are identified and resolved quickly
- Participate in problem-solving activities to improve tooling reliability and efficiency
- Comply with health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Complete all apprenticeship training modules and assessments in line with the programme requirements
