Summary

Manthorpe Engineering Limited are seeking an apprentice to develop their career within our Inspection Team. Industries we work for include Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace and Power Generation. Utilising the latest technology we manufacture high integrity machined parts, fabrications and assemblies from a range of materials.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

The aim of the apprenticeship program with Manthorpe Engineering is to train people to become skilled Inspectors who can then build a successful career within the company. To achieve this the apprentice will be paired with an experienced Inspector who will ensure their skills and knowledge are developed alongside their college based training. This process will involve on the job training and will include a wide variety of inspection techniques;

Shadowing and working alongside our experienced Inspection team performing tasks as follows;

  • Inspection of simple and complex parts and assemblies for the Aerospace, Nuclear and Defence industries
  • CMM Inspection, including online and offline programming
  • Manual Inspection techniques working to fist principles
  • Visual inspection
  • Documentation Review

You will experience a blended learning model.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Engineering Campus (NG17). This attendance is required during term time only.

After this apprenticeship

On completion of the apprenticeship it is expected that the qualified apprentice will be competent within Inspection activities whilst working unsupervised, (although guidance and training will still be available). We have a graded pay scale to reward further progression reflecting skills and experience. The business also has a track record of apprentices progressing to other roles (i.e. manufacturing engineering, sales, etc) as opportunities arise.
