Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for 2 x new apprentices to join our tool making department to become fully skilled Engineers in all aspects of manufacturing and designing tooling.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • To be able to program and operate electro discharge machinery
  • To use CMM Machinery to check parts are precise, of high quality and accurate to drawing
  • To have an understanding of the works order administration system
  • To carry out maintenance on injection mould tools
  • To be able to fit, test and trial new tooling
  • To be able to use and interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and inspection reports
  • To be able to design appropriate jigs/fixtures and tooling using computer aided design
  • You will be expected to be able to set up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings as applicable to the machine tool being used
  • When using CNC equipment, you will be expected to be able to produce, prove and edit programmes
  • To gain an understanding of injection moulding techniques and best practices
  • To be competent in tool setting
  • Proficient in operating manual toolroom machinery such as milling, turning and grinding machinery

GCSE in:

  • English, maths and a Science included (x5) (grade 5)
