Summary

LMDB Accountants, in Eastbourne are recruiting for an Accounting apprentice. The apprentice will undertake bookkeeping/VAT returns, preparation on Xero/ Sage etc. whilst learning the principles of control accounts and double entry bookkeeping. Once confident, the apprentice will also assist in basic accounts preparation and audit field work.

  • Assisting in preparing sole trade/limited company accounts
  • Assisting in audit fieldwork

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan

  • You will be completing the Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship. At the end of the apprenticeship, you will gain a grade Pass or Distinction
  • If you don’t have a Level 2 maths and English qualification, you will complete Functional Skills in maths and English. You will complete these qualifications alongside your day in college
  • Day-release will be at the Eastbourne campus, once a week, term time only
  • An assessor will visit you every 10-12 weeks onsite. Please ensure you can travel to this location in East Sussex before applying
  • College will begin again September 2025

GCSE in:

  • Maths and English (grade 4/C/Level 2 Functional Skills)

- The day-release for the apprenticeship course will begin September 2025, with East Sussex College, from the Eastbourne campus. - The job role may start before the closing date, but it could be negotiable. - The employer is happy to accept applications from applicants wishing to secure a Level 2, 3 or 4 apprenticeship. You must have completed the previous level before commencing the next level. - You should see this role as a career opportunity rather than simply a job. We are looking to take on apprentices who are prepared to work hard and are seeking a career in accountancy. The company was first established in 2007, and we deal with compliance, taxation, accounting and consultancy.
