An interesting opportunity has arisen within our busy Stores environment, where you will be working in a dept that supplies equipment to Sandwell residents to enable them to continue living in their own homes. Therefore you will be carrying out a range of warehousing duties whilst undertaking a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
You will be working in a department for Sandwell Council that operates a 7 day service, to supply equipment such as: walking sticks, hoists and specialist beds and chairs etc, to Sandwell residents to enable them to continue living in their own homes, whatever their age or disability.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Helping to receive deliveries of new equipment from suppliers – Goods Inwards
- Helping to receive deliveries of equipment being returned from loan
- Picking and issuing stock and equipment from the Stores area – Despatch
- Carrying out any minor repairs to equipment returned from loan
- Adhering to COSHH requirements to undertake the cleaning of equipment
- Assembly of new ‘flat pack’ equipment
- Assist in keeping a check on stock levels within the Stores
- To assist staff members when making deliveries / collections
- To assist with the keeping of accurate records, on an in-house database system
- To ensure that equipment being recycled, fulfils the necessary quality standards
- To comply with policies of Sandwell MBC including Moving & Handling, Data Protection and COSHH

- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Your training plan
- At the end you will gain a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification. The apprenticeship training will be delivered in the workplace, as you will receive visits from a college assessor.

GCSE in:

Proof of Qualification Certificates will be required upon application. You must be able to wear a uniform & appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, have a due regard for Safeguarding and undertake an Enhanced DBS check. It would be advantageous to be physically fit – due to the moving and handling of stock items
