Summary

We at The Railway Ramblers Rest are looking for someone who can deliver excellent customer service and who has a good level of communication with a positive attitude. We also welcome a candidate who may want to explore other apprenticeship routes with us.

£9,984 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Cleaning areas of the site including surfaces, bathrooms and toilets
  • Emptying bins, hoovering all carpets, using a steam mop on hard floors and other cleaning duties
  • Sorting and recycling waste
  • Replenishing room supplies (coffee, shampoo etc)
  • Maintaining stocks in storage cupboards tidying and putting away
  • Washing linen and occasional ironing
  • Making beds to the required standard
  • Dealing directly with guests, checking in and dealing with enquiries
  • Answering telephones 
  • Operating the guesthouse booking system and taking payments for room bookings
  • Serving ice-creams (food hygiene required, training & certification included)
  • Stock control of ice-cream 
  • Checking guests in
  • Maintenance of hot spa pool (training provided)
  • Any other reasonable role that may be offered in agreement
    with the management in order to support the general practice
    of the guest house
  • General customer service duties - engaging with customers

The main purposes of this job role is to clean and prepare bedrooms for guests and to ensure that the Ramblers’ Rest is presentable in all guest areas. In addition, we are also open to candidates exploring other apprenticeship routes at different levels. Please also consider location and how you will get to and from work.

The Ramblers' Rest at Princetown is a guesthouse and spa. Located in the heart of Dartmoor, offering quality accommodation for 'discerning' Dartmoor Explorers. The premises offer a range of outdoor catering and indoor semi self-catering.
