Summary

We are recruiting for an accounting apprentice to work in the accounts department at Malvern Theatres. The work will be varied and will include all aspects of the finance work within the department. Both internal and external training will be provided leading to AAT certificate in Accounting level 2.

Wage

£11,778 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

As an apprentice within the accounts department, you will get experience in all aspects of the work of the finance department within the theatre.

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Formal training will take place at HWGTA - either Hereford or Worcester site.

You will receive training one day per week which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Accountancy Level 2 qualification.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in spring of each year.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English and Maths (grade 5 or above)
