Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
This is a great opportunity to join the world of Logistics which is developing all the time and will open the right individual to a rewarding career path.
Alongside internal training you will also complete the Warehouse Operative L2 Apprenticeship that will support you in developing the required knowledge & skills required for a successful career within the logistics sector. At some point you may be given the opportunity to obtain your Forklift truck licence.
Role and duties include:
- Receiving and processing incoming stock and materials,
- Picking and fulfilling orders from stock,
- Packing and shipping orders, or organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse.
- Loading and unloading of both loose and containerized vehicles,
- Safe pallet wrapping and stock locating in accordance with company requirements.
- Pick and pack as required by clients to include the opening of cases, pallets, boxes, etc.; and the safe repackaging for store, onward transport of aforementioned items.
- Opportunity for training on fork-lift trucks after initial 12 months.
- Understanding of Health & Safety compliance within the warehouse

- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
- Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
- Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
- Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
- Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.

Your training plan
- On the job training delivered by the employer
- Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3
- Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training
- Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours to progress and develop
- Identify, track and support 6 hours off the job training activities (weekly)
- Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- Maths and English (grade A*-C/ 4-9)

Other requirements
As this apprenticeship is warehouse based there will be physical work including lifting heavy objects, so candidates should have a good fitness level.
