An exciting opportunity has opened for an Apprentice Metal Fabricator to join a small team at Simplex Limited to learn the many varied skills of metal fabrication across a broad range of materials. Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Although not exhaustive, key responsibilities include: 

  • Working from job sheets and drawings
  • Cutting metal both sheet and extrusion
  • Rolling, folding, welding amongst other skills
  • Learning how to and operating a CNC router
  • Materials used will be mainly aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel but can often also include brass, plastics, wood and glass as these get incorporated into the metalwork 

Most of the jobs produced are one off piece’s so we offer a varied and interesting working week. Not many jobs allow you the chance to work in such a range of materials and the processes involved in fabricating them and so this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate looking to start their career in this creative and versatile industry.

Other requirements

This is an 18-month apprenticeship and applicants MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for it and have the minimum qualification level to apply for it Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK. Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer. Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study. Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship. This position will be on site at Lancing Business Park with attendance at Chichester College. Ability to travel to both locations will be essential. To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must have Math and English GCSE minimum Grade 2, have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years and be free from full time education. There is prospect of a full-time position at the end of it.
