Summary

Ings Primary School is looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join their team. You will work alongside their experienced staff to support students in their learning and development. Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ensure the inclusion of all pupils within the classroom.
  • Build productive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Work alongside the class teacher and senior leadership team to contribute to the development and implementation of pupil plans.
  • Support pupils consistently, recognising and responding to their individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils to interact, work cooperatively, and engage in classroom activities as well as during lunchtime.
  • Promote independence and use strategies to recognise and reward pupils’ achievements.
  • Act as classroom and lunchtime support, ensuring high standards of punctuality, behaviour, and uniform are maintained, and applying all school policies consistently.
  • Monitor and report on pupils’ progress across all subjects, including group discussions, literacy and numeracy programs.
  • Assist with any other tasks as directed by the class teacher or senior leadership team.

  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant consisting of:

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English (if applicable).
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths (if applicable).

You will be required to attend a half-day session with HBTC where you will work towards any functional skills (where needed) that you have to take. There will also be an end point assessment.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • maths (grade 4)

About this company

Ings Primary School is a community primary school located in the east of the City of Hull. The school has approximately 273 children on roll, including a 26 place purpose-built nursery within our Foundation Stage as well as a 10 place autism hub. We are part of the Thrive Co-operative Learning Trust and work in partnership with 6 other primary schools and 2 secondary schools in the city.
