Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Apprentice to join Vistry Group. As an Apprentice you will be responsible for assisting with and gaining experience of the successful delivery of the project in terms of health, safety and environmental standards, programme, budget, time, quality, design, technical and customer service.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

You will effectively help to control and learn about all site-based activities in line with specific development requirements, company policies and procedures. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience while working towards a higher Level 4 apprenticeship to further develop your skills and knowledge.

Responsible for supporting construction projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. This may require heading to site location so a driving licence is preferrable.

  • Providing assistance to ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the information relating to the contract, i.e. drawings, specifications, details, Local Authority/NHBC requirements and manufacturers’ recommendations. High attention to detail required.
  • Supporting the management of the project, ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising with quantity surveyors to monitor costs.
  • Good project management and communication skills, monitor progress in accordance with the current programme. Use problem solving skills to reach resolutions.

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Your training plan

  • The Construction Apprentice will be completing a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Construction Site Supervision, which includes a Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment, with NHBC which will be on a virtual basis once a week in their Division.  

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade Grade 4 or above)
  • Maths (grade Grade 4 or above)

NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in:

  • Construction or Built Environment or Tlevel (grade Level 3 or above)

Full UK Drivers License or looking to complete is essential as most site visits are located either around Newcastle, Tyne and Wear.
