Summary

At Amberside Management Solutions, we specialise in asset management, with a particular focus on optimising solar farm performance. We’re a dynamic, growing company, looking for an enthusiastic Finance & Accounting Apprentice to join our team and support our mission while building a strong foundation in finance and accounting.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Processing invoices and managing expense claims
  • Ensuring timely and accurate payments and record-keeping
  • Assisting with financial modelling and performance analysis
  • Contributing to reports for clients and investors on solar farm performance
  • Entering and reconciling transactions using accounting software e.g. Xero
  • Ensuring data accuracy and maintaining high-quality financial records
  • Group Accounting Support
  • Supporting with VAT returns and payroll processing
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end financial tasks
  • Maintaining organised and accurate digital records
  • Helping the team with ad hoc projects and reports

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan

Office hours: Monday- Friday, 9:00am- 5:30pm, with one hour (unpaid) for lunch.

Training provider: BPP

A total of 6 days of study leave per course module (5 for each course module, 1 to sit the exam) will be provided as off-the-job study, and regular on-the-job training to complement your studies.

Please note: Due to the government funding criteria for this position, applicants must be under the age of 21 at the start of the apprenticeship.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English Language (grade 6)
  • Maths (grade 7)

A Level in:

  • Maths (grade B or higher)
  • Other core subjects (grade B or higher)
