Summary
Responsible for providing a mechanical maintenance service within the maintenance team. As part of the maintenance team, the role holder will be required to diagnose faults, suggest and assist with the upgrading of equipment and deliver the plant’s proactive maintenance strategy.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work

Condition monitoring of all aspects of the VFL plant, using condition-based monitoring techniques such as:

Vibration analysis

NDT

Infrared

Thermography

Ultrasound

Oil analysis

- Maintenance and setting up for optimum performance (e.g. laser alignment) for equipment such as:
- Pumps
- Valves
- Conveyors
- Elevators
- Gearboxes
- Fans
- Compressors
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on the VFL plant.

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan
The apprenticeship follows a 3 year programme, with the first year spent off the job at CATCH in Stallingborough. This would be Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm.
The remainder of the apprenticeship is then completed onsite with the employer.
Apprentices will achieve a Level 3 technical certificate and a Level 3 NVQ qualification as part of their apprenticeship.
