Summary

Swarm Training is working with Alliance Shipping Group to help search for a Level 2 Accounts Assistant Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in starting a career in accounting and learning from experienced professionals.

Wage
£15,000 a year

Salary may increase at intervals of 6, 12 and 18 months based on performance reviews.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Processing invoices and maintaining invoice documentation
  • Examining data to identify transactional issues such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices
  • Accurately posting invoices to the system
  • Learning UK and USA company processes
  • Learning/knowing about currencies and rates of exchange
  • Liaising with operations on invoice approvals and costings
  • Assisting with purchase ledgers
  • Responding to queries from suppliers via email or telephone with high-quality customer service

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Training will be with us – Swarm Training, a national provider of apprenticeships throughout the UK. The successful candidate will work towards the Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant qualification, this apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete with assessments.

The apprentice is required to complete a minimum of 6 hours per week during working hours, working towards achieving the qualification. A tutor will conduct training sessions once a month, where the apprentice will be allocated tasks to be completed during working hours.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English and Maths (grade C/4 or above)
