Summary

This vacancy is for an Apprentice Toolmaker and Tool & Die Technician based in Simonstone. Toolmaker and Tool & Die Technicians are predominantly involved in the highly skilled, complex and specialist detailed work of manufacturing and maintaining the engineering tooling used to produce components, products and assemblies.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an apprentice toolmaker you will be trained to produce precision tools and workholding devices.

During your apprenticeship you will learn how to manufacture and assemble new tooling and how to re-furbish worn tooling. The tools you will make are used to cut, shape and form metals and other materials to manufacture our range of products.

You will become skilled, not only in conventional milling, turning, grinding and assembly. You will develop skills in programming, setting and operation our state of the art CNC multi axis machining centres.

 This requires the application of a broad range of activities including: 

  •  Interpret Engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  •  Use of hand, machine and computer controlled machines, tools and measuring equipment.
  • Comply with applicable legislation and organisational safety requirements.
  •  Test and adjust systems they have built or maintained ensuring tooling, jigs fixtures and assemblies meet the required specification.
