This is an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water as one of our Mechanical Apprentices. Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

During the apprenticeship you will carry out following activities:

  • Work on various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, and controls
  • Investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents
  • Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Planned preventative and general maintenance of equipment

Your training plan

You will complete the Level 3 Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard – Mechanical Pathway. Included in the blended learning programme you will also complete the Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Engineering. 

We work in partnership with Basingstoke College of Technology who deliver the programme, you will be expected to attend the campus in Basingstoke on fortnightly basis with the alternate week being virtual delivery, you may also be expected to attend college on block release, we will support your attendance by paying for your accommodation and travel expenses in line with our business expense policy.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
