Summary

Mechanical Maintenance Fitter. Working in the heavy engineering sector for clients such as, Phillips 66, Tarmac, Vivergo, Ensus etc. Across various sectors such as chemical, oil and gas, cement and steel.

Standard week is a 38 hour week. Under 18’s will only be allowed to work a 38 hour week. When 18 years old, it will be expected to work overtime, 12 hour shifts during shutdowns, weekends etc. when needed.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan

The apprenticeship follows a 3 year programme, with the first year spent off the job at CATCH in Stallingborough. This would be Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm.

 

The remainder of the apprenticeship is then completed onsite with the employer.

 

Apprentices will achieve a Level 3 technical certificate and a Level 3 NVQ qualification as part of their apprenticeship.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English Language and/or Literature (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Science (grade 4)

Other requirements

Applicant must be 17 at the time of starting their 2nd year on site. Ideally already have a driving license / working towards driving as will need own transport to get to sites as required.
