What you’ll do at work

The team:

This apprenticeship is a great opportunity for someone without a university degree, looking to build their career. You will work in the Cundall offices for four days a week with the remaining day as your study day, working towards achieving a Level 4 Building Services qualification.

The Cundall vertical transportation team provide lift and escalator consultancy services for a wide range of different building types from data centres and airports, to shopping centres, residential developments, and offices. We do this as part of a coordinated multi-disciplinary design team, and as a single discipline where only lift works are involved in the project.

We are involved in all the stages of construction projects from concept design of the vertical transportation requirements for buildings to specification development. We work in collaboration with lift contractors to turn a design into reality.

We also assess existing lifts and escalators within buildings and provide building owners with advice on works required to upgrade or replace them. We provide expert advice and support to building managers to assist with the operational management of lifts and escalators under maintenance, assisting to ensure clients comply with legislative requirements and plan for future investments.

The role:

As a Building Services Apprentice (Vertical Transportation) you will obtain a recognised Engineering qualification whilst gaining on the job work experience.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and learn the ins and outs of lift design. Working on a range of projects, from designing new lifts to improving lifts in existing buildings and have the chance to use cutting-edge technology to create innovative solutions.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in a range of areas, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software development. We will provide you with comprehensive training and support to help you succeed in your role.

To be considered for this position, you should have qualifications relating to Science and Mathematics and an interest in engineering or a related field, along with a desire to continue your educational development to the next level.

You should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
