Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team as a customer service apprentice. You will work in the heart of the beer and wine wholesale sector, assisting with day-to-day operations. Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy, customer facing environment, all while being part of an established and successful company.

£13,312 to £23,795.20 a year

You will work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, and have 30 mins for lunch. You will work 1 Saturday a month. Saturdays normally finish about 2:30 but a full day is credited, getting paid for it or a day in lieu.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Taking orders over the phone and by email

  • Resolving customer queries by phone and email

  • Accurately entering orders on the system

  • Helping resolve stock issues

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Your training plan

  • 4 days in the work place

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3)
  • Math (grade 3)

Bartons is a national, family run, wholesaler of beer, wines and spirits. As we open our third depot in Huddersfield we are looking to add an accounts apprentice to our head office team in Wigan. We pride ourselves on our team-oriented approach and are excited to bring on an apprentice who shares our passion for both the industry and professional development.
