Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Key Responsibilities
· Support credit controller – taking on responsibility for first calls to customers and providing proof of delivery/copy invoices
· Answer phone to cover finance team on breaks, lunches, attending meetings & holidays
· Train on sales ledger and purchase ledger to cover holidays and absences
· Train on bank postings and reconciliations to cover holidays and absences
· Provide administrative support to finance team as and when required in obtaining relevant paperwork and following up on any outstanding invoices.
· Assist with monthly and year end reporting of financial and accounts information
· Maintain financial and accounting records
· Assist with the compilation of accounting and financial records
· Collaborate with and deliver financial and accounting information and data to stakeholders
· Assist in the maintenance and use of digital systems safely ensuring cyber security is maintained
· Undertake appropriate learning and CPD.
· Complete and pass any and all assignments and/or exam

- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan
Training will be provided by Solihull College and an assessor will be allocated to support you. Coaching in the workplace, on teams as well as scheduled sessions at the Solihull campus and time spent training will be part of the agreed working hours. At the end of your training, you will complete AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, a portfolio of evidence and discussion.

GCSE in:
- 3 additional GCSE's (grade 4 or above)
- English & Mathematics (grade 5 or above)

- Accounts (grade Level 2)
