Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What You’ll Do:

  • Master the Warehouse: Pick, pack, and dispatch orders with accuracy and efficiency
  • Keep Things Moving: Assist with goods-in processes, stock checks, and inventory management
  • Learn Logistics: Understand the supply chain and how to ensure smooth operations
  • Handle Products: Gain expert knowledge of electrical goods and their storage requirements
  • Develop Your Skills: Receive training in health and safety, warehouse systems, and team collaboration

After full training responsibilities will include:

  • Managing stock in and out (to external clients)
  • Picking and packing
  • Driving the forklift
  • Store transfers and stock control
  • Completing the paperwork within the office
  • Raising quotations
  • Processing orders
  • Some heavy lifting will be involved with loading and unloading the vans
  • Driving Licence is required as will be required to make occasional deliveries to customers & suppliers

  • Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
  • Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
  • Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Completing a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship. 

The vocational and academic training aspects are separated and delivered by separate teams. The vocational training and assessment are conducted, more often than not, on site according to the employers wishes.

Notice of dates is agreed well in advance of a site visit. Training and assessment are conducted both on and off the job, according to the needs of the course and the learner. Every effort is made to ensure the best result is achieved by the learner.
