Summary
To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area, for specified periods of time.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Work with individual students or small groups of students in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff.
- Support students to understand instructions, promote independent learning, and encourage inclusion for all students.
- Assist the teacher in behaviour management and help keep students on task.
- Support students' social and emotional well-being, reporting issues to the teacher as appropriate.
- Prepare and organise the learning environment and resources, including photocopying, filing, displaying, and presenting student work and teaching materials as directed by the teacher.
- Record basic student data.
- Facilitate student learning through play.
- Organize and supervise games and activities.
- Assist in escorting students on educational visits.
- Invigilate exams and tests.
- Support students with eating, dressing, and hygiene needs as required, while encouraging independence.
- Supervise students during transitions between lessons and when entering and leaving the school site.
- Provide first aid, subject to appropriate training.

- Provide feedback to learners.
