Summary
An exciting opportunity to join a small team providing day to day care for both in work and retired horses whilst working towards your level 2 qualification. Tasks include general stable management, assisting the vet, working horses from the ground and assisting with events.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Changing rugs
- Turnout and bringing in
- Mucking out
- Making/soaking hay nets
- Making feeds and feeding
- Grooming
- Assisting the vet
- Working horses from the ground (lunge, long rein, work in hand.)
- Clipping and trimming
- Bathing
- General first aid
- Maintaining yard cleanliness
- Field management

- The apprentice will work at Tracy Hunt Equestrian Ltd, Sandpit Farm, Sandpit Lane, Brentwood CM14 5QD 4 week days plus every other Sunday, attending Writtle College CM1 3RR one day a week
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 2 or E)
- Maths (grade 2 or E)
Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
You will be working outdoors in all weathers. You will find the work tiring to begin with until your fitness improves. You do need to be committed to completing your theory work and portfolio.

Livery Yard offering full and part livery services for 25 horses and ponies. We offer additional care to horses with lifelong conditions i.e Laminitis, Cushings, EMS etc.
