Summary
Ideal first step into retailing. You will learn all aspects of helping to run a High Street Stationer, from helping to select new ranges to merchandise in store, working on our social media, and web sites, customer interaction, becoming an expert on artists materials, crafts, computers accessories, framing, and many other lines.

The working week will be Mon 10am to 5.15pm. Tuesday, 9.00am to 4.00pm, Wednesday ,10.30am to 5.15pm, Thursday, 10.30am to 5.15pm, Friday, 10.30am to 5.15pm. Working on Saturdays on a rota basis 9.00am to 5.00pm every 3 weeks.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Serve customers, helping them, with what they are looking for instore
- Accept incoming deliveries from suppliers, checking orders off, then merchandising stock on shelves
- General updating of stock, and assiting, with new ideas of layouts of product ranges
- Input into the store social media, and websites
- Learning the products knowledge of the ranges that we carry

- Communicate with customers to meet their requirements and encourage customer loyalty and repeat business.
- Serve customers in line with brand standards, legislation, business procedures and the values of the business.
- Provide a retail service that balances the customers’ needs with additional linked products and services.
- Use face to face or online sales techniques such as product and price comparisons to support or influence the customer in their purchasing decisions.
- Promote seasonal or local offers through in-store or online promotions.
- Identify situations that may damage business reputation in line with company policy and escalate as required.
- Maintain good merchandising to meet the needs of the business whilst ensuring safety.
- Maintain stock levels and storage conditions such as correct temperature, lighting, ventilation, packaging to meet customer demand and minimise stock loss.
- Use technology and applications to support sales and service ensuring that maintenance issues are reported.
- Support team and colleague development through buddying and/or coaching.
- Comply with regulations and legislation relevant to their role and business.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities which focus on improving sustainability within the business.
- Handle complaints within remit or escalate as appropriate.
- Support sales across a range of promotional events throughout the calendar year.

Your training plan
- The qualification is working towards The Retailer Level 2 on a 12 month time scale
- Training is ongoing, with our Training partner HIT calling on a planned program to do onsite training

Desirable qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- ENGLISH (grade 7)
- MATHS (grade 7)

Other requirements
The job involves taking deliveries in, so some lifting is required. Also you are on your feet during your shift.

- Expected career progression is to work upto Store Manager level continuing on from the end of The Apprenticeship, with overall responsibility of running the business on a day to day basis
