Summary

Avondale Medical Ltd is a niche business, where we look after Medical Consultants’ Private Practices. The Apprentice will get an overall knowledge of the business, and exposure to basic accounting, to more complex accounting issues. We look to develop the apprentice with skills that both the apprentice and the business require.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

We currently have over 30 consultants, who require their Private Practices run in an efficient, timely manner. This is delivered by a professional polite team.

The type of work is detailed below:

  • Processing clinic lists for Medical Consultants onto bespoke software packages
  • Coding of clinic/theatre lists
  • Posting invoices to Patients
  • Submitting invoices to Insurance companies invoices and using their portals
  • Allocating receipts from Patients and Insurers for Consultants onto bespoke software packages
  • Reconciling bank account
  • Running month end reports
  • Speaking with Patients on the telephone, communicating via text, email and letters
  • Taking payments and recording payment

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

  • The Apprentice will be looking to achieve Level 2 AAT
  • The Apprentice will have Day release from Avondale Medical in order to achieve Level 2 AAT qualification
  • Avondale Medical will assist with on the job training.
  • Avondale Medical will assist with the teaching from day release.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)
