Summary
The Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship is a Sales and Service Advisor role within our Consumer team (Personal Lines, Package and High Net Worth team), is a specialist sales, servicing (remote and face-to-face), support and technical role where you’ll play a key part in the success and future growth of the business.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The purpose of the role is to support the growth of the agency and servicing of our clients on our Consumer accounts and on NFU Mutual business and activities. Using your developing knowledge and experience, the role is about using your sales, marketing and communication skills combined with true customer focus in a busy office environment to meet the needs of our clients.
Specialist Support:
- Manage our client enquiries and servicing needs in a proactive and positive manner
- Support the team and management with technical skills and experience in the organisation and day-to-day running of the business
- Work with our external colleagues to help deliver our agency objectives for growth and target client and member acquisition
- Undertake all activities in support of the business in line with requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority
Sales:
- Quote for new risks in line with NFU Mutual requirements (both inbound and outbound)
- Actively identify and target new target clients and opportunities and obtain permission to provide proposals for the agency
- Generate Life Leads and arrange appointments for the NFU Mutual Financial Consultant
Relationships:
- Support the team, team supervisor and partner agents to achieve the business objectives and help deliver our strategic plan aims
- Build strong long-term relationships with the range of target clients through customer-focused activity and standards, including but not limited to proactive renewal management
- Help deliver a great team working environment through positive engagement with colleagues and respectful approach at all times
- Have positive working relationships with Agency colleagues, NFU Mutual, Underwriters, Trainers, Sales Consultant and Financial Consultant
Competencies:
- To gain and maintain technical and sales competencies in accordance with the NFU Mutual Training and Competence Scheme
- To have sound working knowledge of our systems and other key business activity enabling and support tools as required

Course contents
- Technical ability: Applies specialist technical knowledge and experience to unfamiliar and/or complex situations. Proactively responds to insurance market changes to deliver positive outcomes to all stakeholders. Consistent application of legal insurance principles, knowledge of the market structure and its processes and procedures and documentation to a range of complex situations.
- Relationship development and management: Engages and networks proactively with clients/customers and colleagues/senior management, as required to deliver business outcomes. Manages customer/stakeholder expectations effectively. Uses interpersonal skills and networks to influence and gain support, to deliver positive business outcomes.
- Communication: Uses a range of advanced communication techniques to convey complex information. Negotiates effectively. Seeks out opportunity to communicate complex information clearly and negotiate effectively by applying advanced communication techniques.
- Ownership and initiative: Contributes to the development and implementation of operational plans within business area. Manages people and/or processes to ensure the operational and strategic needs of business are met. Challenges existing processes and procedures to improve the customer/client/ stakeholder experience. Uses a structured, evidence-based approach when taking ownership for resolving identified problems. Able to provide a clear rationale when making decisions.
- Governance: Uses in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements to support organisational compliance. Uses understanding of risk to contribute to anticipating, identifying and managing exposures within their business area.
- Advice and support: Consistently supports others and collaborates to achieve results in line with business strategy. Takes a leadership role within team when appropriate. Is alert to sector developments and notifies others where they impact on own business area.
- Management of information & data: Obtains and analyses relevant information and data to evaluate performance and influence business results. Uses data analysis to challenge existing business processes/procedures. Proficient in the use of bespoke and/or generic IT software and systems needed to facilitate the analysis and evaluation of data.
Your training plan
- The successful candidate will complete the Senior Insurance Professional qualification as well as obtain their Advanced Diploma in Insurance
- Training is pre-arranged by the Davies Group as well as on the job training

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
