Summary

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to work within local community settings, within schools and holiday camps. Working alongside our team, you will be caring and supporting children in play. You will be creating a stimulating and adventurous environment, allowing children to choose how they want to play.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Set up learning spaces including moving equipment
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining a safe environment
  • Assist with planning, preparing and delivering a high-quality playing environment
  • Provide comprehensive care for children of all ages
  • Support and maintain the logging of confidential records
  • Support children with literacy and numeracy
  • Supporting in the maintaining of good relationships with school, parents and children

  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.
  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.

Your training plan

  • The training for the programme will include online learning, webinars, practical sessions and visits in the workplace
  • On completion, you will achieve a level 3 Teaching assistant qualification and Functional Skills in maths and English as required

Desirable qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade A*-C/4-9)
  • Maths (grade A*-C/4-9)
