Summary

An exciting opportunity for an IT Apprentice has become available at our world-class aerospace manufacturing facility in East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight. You will complete the Level 4 Business Analyst Apprenticeship Standard, and work across both our Osborne and Falcon Yard manufacturing facilities.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • The broad purpose of this apprenticeship is to understand the needs of stakeholders and how these can be met through business change and digital solutions. Business Analysts are change professionals that help organisations deliver business and digital change successfully.
  • You will work with the site's IT Team to support the delivery of the organisation's business and digital changes that are needed.
  • You will have a mixture of on the job and workshop training to meet the requirements of your apprenticeship standard.

  • Apply appropriate approaches to scope, plan and perform Business Analysis
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of situations with a range of stakeholders
  • Apply a range of structured investigation techniques to a business situation
  • Produce an outline definition of a business situation using an appropriate technique
  • Apply appropriate techniques to identify problems and opportunities within a business situation
  • Support the identification and presentation of proposed actions to stakeholders in order to gain agreement for further analysis activity
  • Apply appropriate techniques to analyse and document options and recommendations for change
  • Elicit process information from stakeholders
  • Model business processes using relevant techniques, standards, notation and software tools
  • Analyse business process models to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Produce models of redesigned business processes
  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders to identify business and user needs
  • Document clear functional and non-functional requirements in line with local standards
  • Analyse documented requirements to remove duplication, conflict and overlap
  • Prioritise requirements using an appropriate prioritisation approach
  • Validate requirements with stakeholders
  • Support the establishment of requirements traceability
  • Elicit business data needs from relevant sources
  • Support the development of simple data models using relevant techniques, standards, notation and software tools

Your training plan

You will work towards a nationally recognised Level 4 Apprenticeship certificate in Business Analyst, as well as gain professional recognition from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT for Register of IT Technicians (RITTech) level 4.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Computer Science (grade 4 and above (C and above))
  • English (grade 4 and above (C and above))
  • Maths (grade 4 and above (C and above))
  • two further GCSEs (grade 4 and above (C and above))

A Level in:

  • Maths or Computer Science (grade C or above)

T Level in:

  • Digital (grade Pass or above)

Other in:

  • Related subject (grade Pass or above)

Other requirements

PLEASE ALSO NOTE the position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually)

Once qualified, our IT Apprentice is then likely to move into one of the following career discipline:

  • Centre of Excellence (CoE) Architect – acts as a skilled and knowledgeable team member whose role is to provide the business global support and deliver best practices around the analysis and design of applications and solutions in line with the business requirements.
  • Business Systems Architect – act as a skilled and knowledgeable team member whose role is to support the business and deliver best practice around the development and configuration of systems and solutions in line with business requirements.
