Summary

Earls Gymnastics Club is looking for a Gymnastics Coach apprentice. This is an essential role and will be key to the club continuing to provide high quality gymnastics and activity sessions, coaching across all ages and levels. Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Earls Gymnastics Club is looking to hire a Gymnastics Coach to help to continue the club’s success. This is an essential role within the club and the successful candidate will be key to the club continuing to provide high quality gymnastics and activity sessions coaching across all ages and levels.

This position is Ideal for a person interested in sport, dance and gymnastics and wants to gain experience in one of the best gymnastics centres in the country and work towards British Gymnastics Qualifications.

The Role:

Responsible to the Head of Participation Gymnastics, the successful candidate will coach across the clubs Participation Programme. An ability to adapt their coaching style to a range of ages and abilities is essential. The typical working week will be Monday to Sunday and hours will be allocated across the week. Hours are mainly evening and weekends due to the nature of the industry.

You will be required:

  • Work between both our venues currently Oldbury and Halesowen as well as any further venues
  • To ensure all children have a positive experience.
  • To assist with the delivery fun, inclusive and engaging physical activity sessions to children
  • To encourage children to participate
  • To demonstrate excellent customer service
  • To understand risk assessments and ensure that reasonable steps have been taken to protect participants at all times
  • To prepare equipment when required and check the safety of all equipment and ensure it is used in a safe and proper manner.
  • To understand necessary paperwork and processes
  • To support administrative duties, booking members into classes, including phone calls and emails
  • Use of booking systems and computer systems
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures

Course contents
  • Planning and adapting sessions and activities that respond to customer feedback and encourage customers to develop a lifelong activity habit.
  • Coaching or leading pre-planned sport or physical activity sessions that are attractive to the target audience(s) and develop motivational relationships with customers.
  • Promoting a physical activity offer, (including but not exclusively) organised play and sport in the community which supports individuals on their behaviour change journey.
  • Working collaboratively with sports clubs and other community assets – including volunteers, public services, youth workers, the police and community champions.
  • Supporting customers to co-produce rewarding volunteering opportunities.
  • Supporting families to participate together in sport and physical activity.
  • Working effectively with customer insight to overcome individual, community and societal barriers to participation in physical activity and sport.
  • Contributing to the employer’s design of activities and services and practising the employer’s organisation’s values, policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to teams that deliver community events and festivals.
  • Supporting organisations to evaluate, develop and promote sessions and other opportunities such as outdoor group exercise and informal social play.
  • Maintaining personal safety and wellbeing, as well as that of customers.
  • Managing disruptive behaviours from individuals within the group setting.
  • Encouraging customers to be regularly active – both formally and informally – within sports clubs or leisure facilities including open-space.
  • Effectively using social media and technology, appropriately, to deliver targeted messages to identified customer groups for example children, teenagers, adults and older adults.
  • Effectively monitor and evaluate activities, sessions and projects using technology platforms to maintain accurate records and produce timely reports.

Your training plan

The blended learning delivery design encompasses a range of methods to engage apprentices and offers a rich and exciting programme.

Your training programme will involve:

  • Level 2 Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 2 Award in Multi-skills Coaching/Development in Sport

  • Supporting the PE curriculum
  • Behaviour Management
  • Practical PE Curriculum
  • Gymnastics
  • Dance
  • Safeguarding / Prevent
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Functional skills in maths and English (where required)

GCSE in:

  • Maths & English (grade 4 or above (C equivalent))
