VQ Solutions is seeking a personable individual to join DB Schenker as an HR Apprentice. You will support their HR department with administrative tasks, helping to ensure smooth HR operations. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to embark on a fulfilling HR career in within the dynamic logistics industry.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Ensure that all Administrative tasks are undertaken in an efficient
and effective manner and within the required timescales - Take ownership for the accurate management of all documentation
relating to the site, including (but not restricted to) HR, Operational and Legislative requirements - Assist the L&D Manager, Recruitment Partner, Senior HR Advisor and HR Administrators with aspects relating to HR - e.g. raising HR paperwork and making changes to HR system
- Work to support the Manager in coordinating a process of
Continuous Improvement with regards to HR service delivery - Administration of the LMS system, including (but not limited to);
Data integrity (i.e. Starters/Leavers/Changes/updates etc)
The administrative system support of the Ocean and Air training
program i.e. New Starters, Enrolments, Set ups, SOP’s , Status
reports etc - Enrolment of employees on all e-learning course as and when
directed - Administration support for the Operational team
- Maintaining new starter files through to probation end
- Maintaining the HR Info Inbox
- Ownership of notifying the Healthcare providers (Westfields and
Vitality) of any changes starters/leavers - Long service reporting to payroll and notifying the managers
- Processing long service awards
- Processing Sickness forms

Course contents
- Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
- Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
- Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
- Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
- Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
- Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
- Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

You will work towards an Advanced Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship, delivered by VQ Solutions. You will have a dedicated VQ Mentor and will also be supported internally by your manager. During this apprenticeship, you will develop a portfolio, attend workshop sessions and have regular reviews. The best part? All apprenticeship work will be completed during working hours.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- Maths and English (grade Minimum C/4)
