Summary

Dinnages Garages Limited have an opportunity for a Ford Vehicle Body Panel Apprentice to join their team. Apprentices will be working alongside fully qualified body panel technicians to be fully trained repairing and replacing damaged panels using approved techniques including gas, electric and plastic welding.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The training will include:

  • Health & Safety
  • Tools and equipment used in vehicle refinishing
  • Applying fillers and foundation & materials
  • Preparing metal and pre-painted surfaces
  • Repairing minor paint defects
  • Re-finishing operations

Vehicle damage paint technician (level 3)

Course contents
  • Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
  • Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
  • Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufactures specified application
  • Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
  • Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment

  • Learner will receive Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Standard qualification

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or above)

About this company

After the war Dinnages re-opened as a Ford Dealer, and soon needed to expand and develop to cope with the demands of a growing business. In January 1956 we were awarded Ford Main Dealer status and the foundation were laid for a flourishing business. At our Haywards Heath branch we are a Renault Authorised Repairer. With our joint service reception and separate Renault workshop, Dinnages is the ideal spot for servicing, maintenance, MOT’s and bodyshop repairs
