Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The manufacture of any product starts at our material stores. Once sawn, these parts are then moved to the precision machining shop, where they are machined utilizing state-of-the-art, 5-sided CNC machines. Each part is machined, drilled, tapped and inspected in a single setup, which provides better accuracies and smoother production. At Hopwood Gear our precision engineers are committed to providing only the very best parts.

After 5-sided machining is complete, the product will then probably arrive at our gear cutting shop. During this process, team members perform a series of inspections, leaving nothing to chance.

We can machine virtually any process using our machinery. We are one of a few precision engineering companies to have virtually full CNC capability.

The job role will include working with machinery including:

  • Lathes
  • Milling machines
  • Gear cutting equipment to name a few
  • To take on new engineering tasks under the supervision of senior staff
  • CNC Machining throughout our facility using the latest CAM software
  • Gear Cutting and Gear Grinding to Din 4
  • Gear Box repair and refurbishment
  • Precision Engineering

We have over 100 machines on site and full training will be given on how to operate each one.

Training will be given in all aspects of the job working alongside qualified people.
